Dr. Josiah M. Smith is a skilled Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. He specializes in a full scope of oral and maxillofacial procedures, including dental implant placement, wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) management, facial trauma management and surgical pathology.
Dr. Smith earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry where he developed a strong foundation in both clinical excellence and patient care. He then completed his General Practice Residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio followed by an Oral Maxillofacial Surgery internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Smith went on to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Broward Health in Florida, receiving advanced training in complex and specialized surgical techniques, cosmetic surgery, treatment of pathology and reconstruction, and both surgical and non-surgical management of TMJ disorders. In addition to specializing in dentoalveolar surgery, Dr. Smith is highly skilled in trauma reconstruction and orthognathic surgery.
Committed to staying at the forefront of his field, Dr. Smith regularly participates in continuing education and advanced training courses. He is experienced in the latest surgical techniques and technologies, allowing him to deliver precise, efficient and comfortable treatment outcomes for his patients. He is certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety in the surgical setting.
Dr. Smith is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the American Dental Association (ADA), and Isaac Knapp.
Known for his calm demeanor and clear communication, Dr. Smith takes the time to educate patients and ensure they feel confident and comfortable throughout their care. He values building long-term relationships with both patients and referring providers in the Fort Wayne community.
Outside the office, Dr. Smith enjoys outdoor activities with his family, including camping, hiking, shooting and fishing.
