Dr. Steven R. Schimmele

Steven R. Schimmele, DDS joined Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates in 2001. Dr. Schimmele was born and raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School. He graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1992 and then completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati specializing in oral & maxillofacial surgery. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in tumor and reconstructive surgery at the University of Miami. The fellowship concentrated in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors, side effects of radiation and chemotherapy, and major reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Schimmele is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and has successfully completed examination by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS), American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and several other professional societies.

Dr. Schimmele has held various offices in these professional organizations, including treasurer of Indiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has lectured extensively on multiple contemporary topics in oral and maxillofacial surgery including pathology, reconstruction and anesthesia. He is involved in training professionals to treat anesthesia emergencies with the use of computer simulation.

Dr. Schimmele’s expertise in oral pathology and extensive knowledge in reconstructive procedures has put Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates at a new level of patient care.
